How to Find the Best Foundation for Your Skin

Best Foundation for Your Skin – Foundation is the real foundation of every makeup. Portfolio | Face Style Studio

Its role is to hide imperfections on your face, to make your skin smoother and to and to protect your skin from external factors. It’s important to use a quality foundation because it’s in direct contact with your skin.

But how to find the best foundation for your skin?

Two things are crucial here: Your skin type and tone. When we talk about skin type it’s usually divided into dry, oily, normal, and combined.

Dry skin – When it comes to foundation for dry skin, sheer to medium coverage options are best, in liquid and lightweight cream formulas. A water-based or cream-based formula will keep the skin hydrated as the day goes on. My advice is to avoid powder-based foundations.
Oily skin – Having oily skin can be challenging. Sometimes it can seem like no matter how many anti-shine products you use, a greasy sheen is inevitable. My recommendation is to find a mattifying foundation that’s specifically formulated for oily skin. It should be an oil-free foundation, powder foundation, or liquid-to-powder foundation. Liquid-to-powder formulations are unique in that when you first apply it goes on as a liquid but transforms into an airbrushed, powdered look that dries down in mere seconds.
Normal skin – Congratulation, you are a lucky girl! You can use whatever you like, or whatever your skin likes.
Combined skin – Sometimes your skin is dry. Sometimes it’s oily. Sometimes it’s both. It’s frustrating. When you have combination skin, the biggest concern there is managing the oil production of your t-zone without irritating or drying out your cheeks and chin. My advice is to choose an oil-free liquid formula.

Skin Tone

I often see girls with a different tone of face and neck. Or with makeup that makes them too dark and unnatural. Sometimes is finding the right foundation shade real mission impossible (in my case, I’ll tell you why).

Once I wanted to buy a foundation from one producer that my friend use and it really makes her skin smooth and pretty. But when I started to look for a shade of my skin tone, I couldn’t find it. They don’t have it. I was disappointed, but life goes on 😊.

Skin tones are split into three main categories – Light, medium, and deep. Determining skin tone and its s variations depends on your unique undertone. Skin undertone refers to the color that comes through the skin from underneath its surface. Skin undertones are of three types – warm, neutral, and cool.

To identify your skin undertone, look at your wrist. If the color of your veins is blue or purple then you are cool. If they are green or olive in color, you are warm. But if you are unable to determine the dominant color, you are neutral.

The right foundation is the one that will blend with the natural shade of your skin.

Apply a small amount of foundation at your wrist or jawline. Look for daylight (lights at a store aren’t best for choosing the right foundation shade), blend it and If the shades of your skin and foundation are similar and blend nicely with each other, that is the right choice. Keep in mind that your tone will vary by season and that many women choose to go one shade lighter or darker than their surface color based on preference.

One thing that I want to emphasize is the importance of your skincare. Make-up is a great tool to make everything look perfect outside, but skincare is crucial for the real beauty of your skin.
